SHINE! Creative Coaching’s approach to voice training will give you the skills and confidence to become a truly inspiring communicator. We offer specialized resonant voice and accent training for actors, and accent softening for professionals (and students) in all fields who are non-native English speakers wishing to learn standard North American pronunciation.

Resonant voice and text training for actors
When we describe a voice as ‘resonant’ we’re referring to both its quality of tone and the energetic or emotional impact of the speaker’s words on the listener. Through voice training we develop both of these resonant capabilities in the actor. You’ll achieve an intellectual and experiential understanding of the voice as a free, resonant and articulate instrument, and you’ll develop the ability to apply that knowledge to a variety of texts.

Each coaching session will follow a clear vocal progression from breath and alignment, through resonance, to articulation and text. We’ll use stimulation of imagination, character and a sense of play to reach resonance and articulation goals, within a training framework inspired by the work of Cicely Berry, the Roy Hart Theatre, Arthur Lessac, Annie Morrison, and Kristin Linklater. Actors, join us in connecting the imaginative self to the physical experience of sounds and words!

Accent softening and North American pronunciation for non-native English speakers
We developed this voice training program for fluent English speakers who learned English as a second language either at school or as an adult, and feel that they aren’t communicating as clearly or as confidently as they would like.

Through coaching, you will learn to:

• Identify and use Standard North American vowels and consonants
• Adopt North American intonation patterns, vocabulary, and rhythm
• Improve your diction
